With the outside world slowly diminishing from day to day life, most people spend the majority of their time inside. Whether it's working from home, taking care of your family, or just grabbing some "me time" our daily lives have become in-the-home centric.
The places we spend the most time should be the most comfortable. You should know if your ventilation is adequate and efficient. These can be difficult questions to ask if you do not know where to start, but Air Primed is here to give you the easy answers. Where do you begin?
Air Primed is here to do all the heavy work for you.
We are an air-comfort consulting company. Oversizing can lead to humidity issues, sucking in unfiltered outside air, and the only rewards are enormous electric bills. We offer consultations on estimates you may have gotten from companies claiming to have all the answers.
We do all this with a simple house visit.
Our goal is to walk you through what you NEED to know to keep your house air as pure, and comfortable as possible.
No one has all the answers, but our goal is to give you as much information as you need to make the best decisions for yourself and your home. It doesn't matter if you're a complete novice, or even a contractor. We will walk you through your decision making process and hopefully educate you along the way.
Being truly comfortable means someone, at some point, did the math. Each home is different. Even your neighbors home that looks exactly the same has minute differences that do not make it the same as your own. We offer services to tell you exactly what your house needs, so you can choose the correct professional for the job. Maintaining good health, or taking on large projects both come with huge questions. We can help you come up with your own answers.
Have you ever gotten a thousand different quotes from contractors? Everyone is giving you different models, serials, and types of equipment, and very few share the same opinions. Well, we can help there, too. We can break down what you don't understand and guide you with reports ranging from tiny briefs to in-depth breakdowns of your needs for your house. We let the math do the talking.
If you can measure what you're breathing in, you can figure out what to do about it. Comfort starts with quality. Devices like ERVs, ventilators, and de/humidifiers can add much to a house. Do you need one of these make-up air systems? We help answer those questions so you can hire the right professional to make your home as comfortable as possible.
Particulate Matter is all around us in our homes. They can be everything from mold spore, dust, pet dander, pollen, viruses, bacteria, vapor etc. The size of the particulate is what gives PM 2.5 and PM 10 their names. The number represents the measurement in microns. A human hair can be anywhere from 50-100 microns!
Things like air filtration, make up air and proper ventilation can stop these tiny, harmful particles from being in our homes. The MERV rating of a filter helps with air filtration, but can also have huge impacts on your heating and cooling systems. Proper ventilation and make up air helps in this process, and can not only improve your health and comfort, but also help improve the length of life your equipment is around!
We all have heard of CO Monitors. They plug into the wall and go off whenever carbon monoxide reaches unsafe levels. Stoves, ovens, water heaters, cars, power tools and heating equipment can all cause this harmful to enter our homes.
But what about CO2? That's what we breathe out with every breath. What are unhealthy levels? Most homes with good air exchange sit no higher than 1,000 ppm. 1,000-2,000ppm is considered unhealthy. It can cause drowsiness and lethargy. Anything over 2.000ppm is often associated with health issues and extremely poor quality.
Whether you know the actual definitions, or not, we all know a little bit about Sensible Heat. That's the measurable heat on your thermostat, and what we tend to feel. Latent Heat is energy that we cannot feel, but is in our house and effecting how our house is heated or cooled. The reason being is: moisture has a direct effect on temperature changes in our homes. Was your house sized correctly to handle its Latent Heating and Latent Cooling loads?
Most people have no idea. A quick layout and interpretation of your house can let us, and thereby you, know exactly what your home needs to make you comfortable. If your cooling unit is oversized, it does not mean it works better. It short cycles (quickly turning on and off), allowing the Sensible Cooling to work but never removing the humidity. Ever notices how everything is damp and sticky in a cool, yet humid environment?
Humidity is a two-faced scoundrel. Relative Humidity (RH) is expressed as a percentage relative to the temperature. On average, most people find about 50% of their RH percentage to be comfortable. In the winter, heating our air lowers the Relative Humidity by allowing the air to hold more moisture, but the RH is lower. That's why the air feels dryer when heaters are turned on in the winter. The correct relative humidity level can help with everything from sore throats to viruses spreading and keeping mold at bay. Dehumidifiers, humidifiers and ventilators can all help with these issues along with making sure that your house energy needs are met.
Bundles offered to homeowners
Estimate Evaluations can be bundled up for up to three at a time. We give you a summary of your estimates, what they are offering, and how that compares to your current system. We then give you a breakdown in layman's terms of your options so that you may make the correct decision. We also get you PDF versions of the equipment Performance Data for contractors' proposed units. This includes a 30-minute introduction on the phone discussion or Zoom meeting and another 30-minute end meeting.
Everything in the Basic Homeowner package is included. Depending on your needs, you also get a detailed room-by-room Manual J (load calculation) or a Block Load. Your consultations also include two one-hour sessions in person or over the phone. We need either to-scale blueprints of your home or an in-person visit to measure for this package.
Choose Which Package Best Suits Your Project
We will review your project and provide proposals of up to 3 contractor estimates. You will receive a summary of the proposed equipment, its performance data, and a brief summary of what your Addition or New Construction build needs. This comes with a Block Load Manual J.
This package is for HVAC contractors only. Many HVAC contractors do not have an on-staff individual to perform Manual J services, so we offer those services at a discounted rate. If you are a local company, we also provide a service to measure the location (Block Load vs. Room by Room are different rates). Whether you have done the measurements yourself, done them by a to-scale blueprint, or need an on-site person, we can help you.
